As for most people, allergies are usually recongnized early when you are exposing your child to food or new foods. For some its not as apparent as a full anaphalytic reaction or hives or swelling.
When my parents first realized that I had allergies it took them a few weeks before they could figure it out. My reaction was primarily made up of frequent crying, lack of sleeping and indigestion. After trying to figure it out, they ended up taking me to the doctor, who suggested that I undergo allergy testing.
After a nasty scratch test, it came back that I was allergic to eggs, all dairy products, all tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, dust, trees, grass, pollen, some materials, and certain parabens, dyes and scents. That was at least the things I was severly allergic to. It definitely caused my parents to have a number of barriers to what they could have in the house and what I could even eat or be around.
A Few Steps To Take:
- If you think your child(ren) have an allergic reaction to a specific food(s), take them to your doctor immediately to confirm your suspicion
- Clear house of all products that cause allergic reactions.
- Clean house thoroughly to rid any remains.
- Sign up for MedicAlert
Then its onto the hard part: what do you do now?
- Find recipes that are suitable for your child(ren)’s dietary restrictions
- Purchase dust masks, antihistamine tablets, benadryl, epipens, and other products to aid.
- Make others away of your child(ren)’s allergy
- etc.
There are lots of ways to work around this. It is not an issue, merely something to change new perspective and actions.
